Merry Christmas!

Things I plan to do over the Holiday break...
- Organize my studio. Clean out the closet and inventory everything I have!
- Knit with the kids in front of the fire.
- Learn more about Adobe Photoshop. (so far I only know how to open it!)
- Spend tons of time with my sister and brother.
- and take time to GO & Dream about the New Year, make Wishes for my kids, and Adore everyone and everything around me.

Whatever you may celebrate, no matter how...
we wish you a very HAPPY HOLIDAY.
A sincere greeting to all of our friends, both old and new,
our families and customers (who we consider our friends!).

Hope your days are filled with great fun and laughter and
maybe a little glitter and glue!

SEE YOU IN 2009!

Resting the Creative Mind

I don't know about you guys, but right about now I am feeling a little overloaded. Like Allison, I have a million different ideas floating in my mind...

barrettes with eyelets and vintage jewelry...knitting with soft cottons...

You get the idea...SO MANY IDEAS!!!! If I could ask for one thing for Christmas this year, it would be for an extra 3 or 4 hours in a day. Wouldn't that be great?

I'm looking forward to the kids being off school and hanging around the house. I am hoping to do some organizing of my studio, enjoy some knitting and read more of the Twilight series.

I think that when you have some down time it lets you rest your creative mind....so watch out for next year! Lots of new ideas will be coming! I hope you and your families have a wonderful holiday season. Rest those minds & I'll see you next year!

what's coming up?

We have been brainstorming like crazy... I can't stop discovering new projects!

Ok. So... "what are you thinking about?" you ask?
-Scrabble Tile pendants
-Vintage inspired knob pulls
-more and more light switch designs
-something soft, perhaps felted projects!
-more collage! Learning the art if distressing...
-hardback and soft back hand bound journals...
And this is just in my head! Stacie's head is full as well!!!

how about a gameboard inspired line. Monopoly? Bingo? Scrabble?

January is going to be a fun month!
So for now... the rest of this month will be spent organizing my chaotic "mess-terpiece" and knitting! I am in a frenzy making funky scarves and hats for my family! Stacie introduced me to embellishing on knittings... so I can't wait to check out more if it this Fri!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had fun... my whole family joined us here for our annual cookie exchange and tree trimming party! The kids also had guests of their own. Making ornaments and a kids talent show! It was SOOOOO much fun! These kids have energy to spare!

I am a little tired... but excited for the holidays. I think I am finally getting into the spirit!!!

Have a great day and hope you have a creative fun time!

Cell phone charms!

OK, we are a bit obsessed with Twilight!!! But, we are having fun! That is the point of art and creating, right?

Check out these great cell phone charms that Allison made. The charms can also be used on IPods too. We already sold one on Moonflower!

We donated a few to my son's middle school for a Christmas shopping spree. They should be a hot ticket item.

Allison did get away from the Twilight scene long enough to make this beautiful cell phone charm.

Well off to get the day started. Hope you have a good one! Thanks for checking back in with us.

Sushi on the menu!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! & your holiday was filled with lots of laughter and love... and food!

Speaking of food...
I think I may have mentioned a while ago how much I really love sushi... I think the colors and the way the food is put together are really miniature works of art! Recently I made a set of Artist Trading cards featuring them... and I just had to keep going!
So last week I made a gift tin set of 8 Mini notecards and this week I went on to make a 2009 Desk Calendar with more!
Each of the 13 collages are original handmade mixed media art. i use a lot of mulberry paper with glass beads, felt, threads, and some other handmade papers. The calendar, as well as the notecards, are printed using a laser printer and printed on very high quality 80lb bright white card stock! Then they are bound using a vintage silver metal binding! It stands on it's own on a very sturdy base.

You can purchase both of these items now at www.moonflowerart.etsy.com!

Well, have a great weekend! I think I'll have more info on the local Spring Ridge Holiday bazaar we will be at by next week!
See you soon!

Twilight Necklaces!

Good Morning!

Allison really did a great job making these new Twilight necklaces! Just like the magnets, she uses resin to make the photo's come to life. The photo's are so clear...I have to say I'm really impressed. I'm afraid of using resin!!! She promised to show me how and calm my fears next week.

The Twilight bottlecap pendents look great on these leather necklaces. The leather is really soft and finished off with sterling silver end caps.

Check out the awesome sterling silver star clasps!

Look for more stlyes of bottlecap necklaces on Moonflower Art.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

First post ever! and Sneak Peek #2!

Hi!

I'm Allison's friend and creative partner in crime Stacie Spencer. This is my first blog ever, so I'm feeling a bit intimidated...but here it is!

I'm so excited about our new store Moonflower Art. I feel like I've had all these ideas floating in my head for so long. It feels great to get them out and watch the creative process unfold.

I have been working in the jewelry field for over 10 years and really enjoy it. Right now I am using Precious Metal Clay (PMC) which is fine silver in a clay form to create my jewelry. My work as a jewelry artist has evolved over the years from beads to silver beads to PMC and I'm sure will keep on evolving. I love to create new things, that's why I'm so excited about Moonflower Art.

I am working on several new ideas for the store opening this Saturday, November 15th. My first love is creating awesome collage bookmarks. Everyone who knows me, knows that I'm a crazy reader, so bookmarks just seemed the natural first step for me. Allison has been working on beaded bookmarks and also has a million other ideas for new products.

She is designing really beautiful light switch plate covers (Sneak Peek #2). Allison uses
designer and vintage papers to create amazing single and double plates. They are a great inexpensive way to create a new look to your rooms.

We look forward to sharing our new ideas and hope you enjoy shopping with us at Moonflower Art. We'd like you to find a creative freedom in our products!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sneak Peek #1

Do you love to read? Who doesn't love a great bookmark?
Check out our collage and beaded bookmarks. We use tons of different materials and mediums! Vintage beads and mixed metals, leather, hemp... w/ several different themes - BINGO, Music, Beach... there's something for everyone!

A Whole New World!

Welcome to our first Blog posting!
Some introductions...

I'm Allison Lee. I am a local greeting card and papercraft artist in new Market, MD. You can visit my etsy site at: www.allisonpapercrafts.etsy.com and my stamping website at www.stampinwithallison.com.

My friend Stacie Spencer is also in New Market and she is a PMC artist (precious metal clay). Her etsy site is www.staciejewelry.etsy.com.

Together we discovered that we love so many different types of crafts... art that doesn't necessarily fit in with our specialties... so we decided to start a brand new store called MoonFlower Art!
(I'll get into how we got our name in a future posting...)

At Moonflower Art we want to make and share all the "other" projects that float around in our heads. We love Collage... so you'll see a lot of that! Beads are my favorite! A new passion for us both - fiber and fabric! (too many cool things... too little time!)

Starting today (on the next posting) we will begin our 7 day countdown to the Grand Opening of our etsy site:
www.MoonFlowerArt.etsy.com
GRAND OPENING - SATURDAY, NOV. 15, 2008!

We are so excited that you have discovered us here on our blog and thank you for taking an interest in our company! We hope that you will enjoy our products as much as we LOVE making them. We fully welcome your comments... we'd love to hear what you think and your suggestions! You can always email us at allisonandstacie@moonflowerart.com.

With that said... let the COUNTDOWN BEGIN!
